HYBRID THREATS TO FOOD SAFETY

This symposium aims to analyze emerging and “hybrid” threats to the safety of the food chain, whether intentional or unintentional. It will address vulnerabilities related to deliberate contamination, bioterrorism, and disinformation, as well as the indirect impacts of factors such as climate change, extreme events, or geopolitical tensions.

It will also examine the level of preparedness of food safety systems, the tools available for risk assessment and crisis response, and the role of innovations—such as artificial intelligence and new technologies—in strengthening resilience against complex and evolving risks.

The symposium is intended for an (inter)national audience of scientists, representatives from food safety agencies and from the European Commission, representatives from companies and sector organizations.

The symposium will be held in English and will take place exclusively in person.
